The 2020 harvest was the earliest in the history of Champagne. The harvest began at JM Gobillard et fils on August 21st in a year that will be remembered for a global event on an unprecedented scale. The interprofessional organisation restricted the yield to 8000kg/hectare.

The limit was deemed too restrictive and inappropriate for champagne sales in the event of a sharp uptick in consumption.

The Gobillard family has always been devoted to sustainable vine growing and taking care of the planet. Our 33ha vineyard has a level 3 HVE certification (High Environmental Value).

difficulties and lack of stock in the future.

Pilot experiments on the Frolight system (frost protection) in our vineyard. The JM Gobillard et Fils vineyard trialled innovative Frolight technology with special LED tubes set up near the buds that emit infrared light to protect the buds from frost. The pilot experiment saw a single small plot covered by the new system which could be a game-changing solution for the future. .

New Blanc de Noirs branding. The JM Gobillard Blanc de Noirs was given a makeover with new branding.
It is now called Pur Pinot Noir. Photo of the outstandingly ripe 2022 harvest in perfect health which we will use to make a fantastic vintage in the future.
